Both options move your belongings. The difference is crew size, equipment, insurance and how much of the job they handle. Pick the one that matches the size and risk of your move.

Choose a man and van when
- You have a studio or one-bedroom flat with a few large items.
- You are moving locally and can pack and carry boxes yourself.
- You need a same-day or short-notice move.
Choose a removals company when
- You are moving a family home or an office.
- You want packing, dismantling and rebuilding handled for you.
- You are moving more than 50 miles, or the move has to finish in one day.
Questions to ask before you book
- Can you show proof of goods in transit and public liability insurance?
- Is the price fixed, or hourly with a cap?
- How many people will arrive, and in what size of vehicle?
- Who pays for parking, fuel and congestion charges?
- What happens if something is damaged?
Warning signs
- No written quote, or a quote that only arrives on the day.
- A large cash deposit, or cash-only payment.
- No insurance certificate, or reluctance to show one.
- A price far below every other quote.
